The Hypatia Library
was set up in 1996, with registered offices at the Jamieson Library, Newmill, Penzance, Cornwall to protect and develop the extensive collections of archives (scrapbooks, diaries, letters), books, periodicals, artefacts and ephemera, and audio-visual materials formed over many years by Melissa Hardie, who now serves as the company secretary and one of the Trustees.

Currently the Collections are lodged in seven locations:

The Hypatia Collection of Women's History is the documentary base and springboard for a range of re-vitalising and service programmes. The Hypatia Collection comprises books, documents and artefacts that concern women's roles in history and contemporary life. This resource is an expanding archive of documentation on the achievements and contributions of women world-wide: Hypatia's work is the documentation of women's lives through research, publication and exhibition. The focus of the Trust and its activities is on women's lives in rural environments, economies and cultures.
